Today's Aspen Caravan featured two 5 bedroom homes in the Central Core and Red Mountain and a studio condo in Smuggler. Two of the three opens were Christies office listings.

5 Bedroom in Aspen's Central Core

222 West Hopkins Ave #6 in Aspen

Aspen Core 5 Bedroom Home (MLS # 191297) Listed at $8.5 Million

The first home is located at 222 W. Hopkins and is a detached condo home. It's a Victorian home that was built in 1888, however has undergone extensive remodeling over the years, with the latest in 2015. It honestly felt like a new home on the inside. There's 5 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms on 3 levels with over 2,100 square feet of living area. The owner has several concepts and renderings to change the layout if someone wanted a different configuration near the entry and the bottom level. The top level, where the master suite was, didn't need alterations as it was super comfortable.

222 W Francis Living Room

Open Kitchen and Living Room with Aspen Mountain Views

The main living area on the top floor features views of Aspen Mountain out the back and a deck to enjoy the south facing sunlight. There's also 1 car garage off the back alley. It's also a really convenient location just 3.5 blocks to restaurant row in town. To have a detached home with 5 bedrooms in the core under $10 million is rare these days.

Next up, I drove up Red Mountain past Willoughby Way to 153 Herron Hallow Road to see what you get for almost double the price.

5 Bedroom on Red Mountain

153 Herron Hallow Road on Red Mountain

Red Mountain 5 Bedroom Home (MLS # 191682) for $16.8 Million

Upon arriving there, there were no open house signs up, nor anyone answering the front door after several knocks and doorbell rings, which was kind of a bummer. Although nearly double the price, it's on Red Mountain, where homes have fetched $70-100 + Million. This lot was much larger on nearly an acre and the living area was double the size at 4,382 square feet.

This one was over 100 years "newer" built in 1990 and was remodeled in 2014. Although not of that era, it did have somewhat of a "mid century modern" vibe with open beam ceilings and cool architecture. Once again, double the price, yet double the size of home. Definitely one for someone that wants more privacy, yet you'd sacrifice the convenience of walking to town like the Hopkins home in town. Next up, I headed back down Red Mountain to see a much more affordable product in Smuggler.

Smuggler Studio at Hunter Creek

Hunter Creek Remodeled Studio Condo in Aspen

Remodeled Hunter Creek Studio (MLS # 191061) with Aspen Mountain Views

Arguably, one of the best deals in Aspen right now is this Hunter Creek unit #1136, which is situated on the quieter side of the complex. Situated on the top floor, there's mountain views off the kitchen window as well as Smuggler views from the exterior balcony.

Priced at $1.1 million, you might get a picture of why this is one of the best entry level deals into Aspen's real estate market. Last, but not least, this is a "free market" unit. In other words, this is not an APCHA or affordable/employee housing with deed restriciton.
